What To Know About Invisalign®

Glendale, United States - March 28, 2021 / Bergh Orthodontics /

If you’re considering treatment with Invisalign, you likely have a lot of questions, from what to expect during treatment, guidelines to follow for the best results, to what you can and can’t eat. You might also be wondering how long it takes to get a straight smile with Invisalign. The answer is complicated our specialist for Invisalign near Burbank, CA, explains more here.

Treatment Times

Usually, treatment with Invisalign takes about one to one and a half years to complete. You will likely see a noticeable difference in about three months! However, this timeline depends on your unique case, such as how misaligned your teeth are and if you have any other dental issues that need to be addressed prior to starting treatment. Our orthodontist can explain more during a consultation.

Stick To Your Plan

A major factor in treatment time is how well you adhere to the guidelines for clear aligners. While Invisalign trays are removable for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing, it is still necessary to wear them for at least 22 hours per day. If you leave them out for longer than the recommended time on a regular basis, delay changing your trays, or lose your trays, it will set your treatment time back. Keep your trays on you all the time and make sure you wear them for at least 22 hours per day!

After Your Invisalign Treatment

Following your Invisalign treatment, retainers may be recommended to keep your smile straight. Without retainers, your teeth may shift back to their prior alignment, undoing all the progress! Make sure that you wear your retainers as our orthodontist recommends.
