Raleigh, United States - May 24, 2021 / Luke Houk /

Forward Luke Houk ( 5'11 190 C/RW 2000 ) commits to the University of Delaware. The Blue Hens hockey team plays at the ACHA Division 1 level of college hockey in the Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League (ESCHL).

Luke played for the Richmond Generals Premier team in the USPHL this last year appearing in 34 games scoring 3 goals and adding 5 assists for 8 points with 53 PIM.

Delaware Head Coach Mittelmeier on Houk, " We are excited to welcome Luke into our program. He is a great skater who is aggressive in the offensive end, but is also a great 200 ft player. While he is an excellent player on the ice, his commitment to academics and his extremely high character is what we look for in our program."

Luke started playing hockey at the age of 5 in Fort Myers, Florida with his younger brother Shaun. He developed a passion for hockey and cemented his goal to play college hockey six years ago during the off-season where he decided to go all-in on his workout regimen in the gym and away from the ice with a former special operations soldier named Joe who trained him all summer. That transformational summer saw Luke develop the discipline of a healthy lifestyle in fitness and nutrition which served to launch his separation from other peer hockey players.

Along the way, his hockey journey led him to North Carolina, then Philadelphia, and finally Richmond. Luke also battled injuries and rehab the last four years with two surgeries, one on each shoulder, but he attributes those trials in deepening his character and commitment to being his best and achieving his goal to play college hockey. The rehabilitation process of recovering from two different shoulder surgeries over consecutive off-seasons was definitely a challenge on all fronts - emotional, physical, and mental - and served to help mold Luke into the player and person he is today as he now heads to college at the University of Delaware.
