New York Psychotherapy Practice Created on Top of Already Successful LA Practice

Years before becoming a psychologist in California, Dr. Nadine lived a life found only in a Hollywood manuscript. Nadine Caridi, now Nadine Macaluso, is the real-life woman behind the Duchess of Bay Ridge, ex-wife of the infamous "Wolf of Wall Street," Jordan Belfort. Their tempestuous eight-year marriage was filled with abuse, greed, drugs, and trauma. Rather than be defined by those chaotic years, she not only survived the Wolf but thrived.

From Surviving to Thriving in Therapy

Young Nadine decided she wasn't all right with merely being a poster girl for toxic relationships. Hence, she left her marriage without any financial support from her ex-husband. Nadine relocated from New York to California with her two children, where she later married her loving husband of now 22 years, John Macaluso. Together, they now share a blended family of five children, three of whom also live in New York.

At the age of thirty-nine, Nadine went back to school to become credentialed on mental health and relationships. As a licensed marriage and family therapist and relationship expert, she provides individual therapy for people who feel stuck and need individual counseling. Dr. Macaluso also loves educating and counseling couples. She has a love styles quiz on her website to help people understand their own and their partner's attachment styles.

Ph.D. in Psychotherapy

In 2015, Dr. Nadine earned her Ph.D. in somatic psychotherapy, which engages the body in therapy. In 2016, she finished a two-year post-doctoral training in a cutting-edge mind-body treatment method, the neuro-affective relational model (NARM). NARM therapy addresses attachment trauma by working with unconscious patterns that deeply affect our identity, emotions, physiology, behavior, and relationships. Nadine is now a certified NARM practitioner and an expert in relationships, complex PTSD (developmental trauma), and the Dark Tetrad.

Telehealth Therapy Now Available Nationally and Worldwide

At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nadine and her husband drove an R.V. across the country to New York City to meet their new grandbaby. She and her husband have since decided to transition to a bi-coastal lifestyle, splitting their time between New York and Los Angeles. Dr. Nadine has set down roots in Glen Cove, Long Island, and is currently building a New York-based private practice in addition to her bustling California practice. Before COVID-19, Nadine frequently used telehealth technology for therapy appointments, as her patients come from all over the country and globe. Currently, she is only conducting therapy via telehealth, through her New York City-based practice.

Dr. Nadine Macaluso Donates COVID Masks for Mental Health

In addition to her bi-coastal private practice, Dr. Macaluso recently launched a Masks for Mental Health Initiative. She produces environmentally friendly COVID-19 facemasks whose proceeds she donates to various mental health causes and has also just donated 100 children's masks to St. Paul’s nursery school in Glen Cove, NY.

Passion for Helping Others

Dr. Nadine Macaluso is immensely passionate about helping individuals heal and restore their resilience. She works with people struggling with anxiety, depression, self-doubt, and insecurity. Sensitive yet straightforward, Dr. Macaluso asks the unasked questions so patients can uncover the root of their mental health issues rather than only treating symptoms. In treatment, patients can understand how their dysfunctional thoughts, emotional overwhelm, and shame fuel their anxiety and depression. In couples counseling, she helps couples raise their relational I.Q. through teaching them about their attachment patterns.

An intuitive and tough Brooklyn girl at heart, she uses humor to encourage her patients to find calm amidst chaos and hope amidst hopelessness. Dr. Nadine knows that following trauma or mental health challenges, people can experience post-traumatic growth (PTG), which involves an increase in emotional well-being, a growing sense of personal strength, and the development of healthier fundamental beliefs. Dr. Nadine Macaluso is living proof that there is an impulse toward healing and connection in each and every one of us.
