How to Keep Your Feet Healthy | Milwaukee Foot & Ankle Specialists

Milwaukee, United States - April 30, 2020 / Milwaukee Foot & Ankle Specialists /

In this time of quarantine, many of us are have probably given thanks for family, friends, and the positive things in our lives. However, we may take our feet for granted and forget that they work hard all the time to keep us moving. The average person takes about 4,000 steps a day, literally placing tons of force on their feet–and without even thinking about how amazing that is! Our podiatrists in Milwaukee want you to know how important it is to care for our feet to avoid problems in the future and offer some advice on keeping them healthy.

Foot Care

Your feet are made of a complex system of tendons, ligaments, muscles, and nerves. They can easily be damaged or develop problems that prevent mobility. To keep moving, take care of any foot problems as soon as they come up. Things like corns, bunions, and fungus can quickly get out of control and become difficult to treat. If you ignore these issues, you may cause further damage down the line and lose your ability to walk around freely!

Keeping Feet Healthy

Exercise during quarantine is important and is a great way to care for your health. However, if you are a runner or do any sports, it’s crucial to have proper shoes to prevent foot injuries. Make sure you check your shoes for excessive wear and be sure to replace them if they become too flexible. If you continue wearing worn-out shoes, you can suffer from shin splints or plantar fasciitis.

An Essential Healthcare Provider

Podiatrists are considered an essential healthcare provider and while we remain open, rest assured we are following all mandates for the safety and health of our employees and patients. We will continue to follow the CDC, WHO, federal and state guidelines and keep our office open to care for patients.
