Lennox & Feel the Love Charity Helps Local Family With Their HVAC Needs

With the holiday season fast approaching, many companies go above and beyond to help their customers and neighbors in the community. Whether they need help with transportation, need a renovation in their home to accommodate a disability, or it’s simply a home-cooked meal, it’s always a great time to reach out and help. One such area that many homeowners don’t think about is their heating and cooling system.

Not only does your air conditioner or furnace keep you comfortable, but also, it can be a matter of safety, especially with temperatures reaching extremes every season. To that end, many HVAC service companies are partnering with Lennox for the annual Feel the Love charity, an opportunity for dealers to nominate someone from their community, and help them in their time of need!

The Feel the Love Charity

polestar feel the loveFeel the Love, formerly Heat UP, was a Lennox program founded in 2009 in Wisconsin. Focused on providing families in need with a quality heating system just in time for the holidays, the program has now provided over 850 furnaces. Continually growing and doing good, The Feel the Love program now includes 20 states along with five provinces in Canada.

Per the Lennox site, “Feel The Love nominees all have one thing in common: they always put others first.” While many of the recipients are known for their involvement in the community, they often don’t have the means to help their own homes. The Feel the Love Charity helps by giving back and ensuring they are honored for all they’ve done.

Past nominees have includes teachers, veterans, senior citizens, and families that have been impacted by a natural disaster. Essentially, it’s an opportunity to help those who have helped others, without ever asking for anything in return.

Helping an Olathe Family in Need

Recently, a local Olathe HVAC company was able to help a homeowner in need after receiving their heartfelt nomination:

"Hello,

My name is Scott Miller.
Information has been shared with me that your company may be helping someone with a new "heater."
My HVAC system has been going on it's, seemingly, last leg for a couple of years now, but there is always some other emergency that arises before I can get the money saved and install a new one. Over the past 5 years, I have made quite a few repairs and kept-up with servicing my HVAC system with what I could afford and my tech, who performs the repair, always tells me it's overdue to replace.

feel loveOn 8 September 2018, my youngest son, Luke, almost died due to diabetic ketoacidosis. He was rescued at Children's Mercy Hospital and diagnosed as Type 1 Diabetic. He will be insulin-dependent for his entire life. I will sacrifice whatever I must to ensure the well-being of my child.

In the late fall, I fell ill due to thyroiditis, after suddenly, (within a day), developing a large nodule in my thyroid. Before I could schedule a time to have my thyroid removed, which Dr. Tsui @ KUMED recommended, I had to be rushed to the emergency room, yet again, with massive kidney stones in both kidneys suffering from acute renal failure and severe hydronecrosis of both kidneys.

My final stint removal, after all kidney stone surgeries were completed, was the day after Christmas 2018.
This spring of 2019, after having replaced my sump pump the previous year, my new sump pump broke again and flooded our sub-basement causing a total loss of everything stored there. Insurance did not cover flood damage, so my wife and I were stuck with the emergency clean-up bill.

I have finally completed having half of my thyroid removed and have been paying medical bills ever since. My wife and I took out a home equity loan to erase all of our debts before most of the medical issues arose. We really don't need to create any new money issues as we have been very responsible and stable for our 16-year marriage.

I am at the point that I am being medically retired by the Army. I have used all of my Sick Leave, Annual Leave, and Military leave at my Civilian job. If anything else were to happen, I just don't know what I would do. I hope if there is anyone out there that I could help, I would do so because I have spent my entire adult life serving my country. That being said, if there is anyone more in need than I, then allow them to receive this gift of love.

With many thanks for doing what you do."
