Did you know that foot structure varies from person to person? It’s true - there are various foot types and each type requires special care and attention. From proper shoes to custom insoles, there are many ways you can care for your feet to keep them pain-free and avoid podiatry-related issues. How do you know your foot type? Our podiatrist in Waukesha County explains below.

Low Arches

If your arch almost completely touches the ground while standing, then you have low arches. Commonly referred to as flat feet or collapsed arches, this foot type requires you to wear supportive, well-fitting shoes and often custom insoles. Lack of support can lead to foot issues like plantar fasciitis and heel pain.

Moderate Arch

If you have a well-formed arch with even balance of the ball of your foot and your heel, then you have a moderate arch. Since this is the ideal foot type, there are usually fewer issues and pain experienced. However, foot problems can occur with any foot type, so always make sure to wear well-fitting shoes that provide ideal support.

High Arches

If you bear most of your weight on your heel and forefoot, then you likely have high arches. With excessive weight on your toes, this foot type can lead to issues like calluses and hammertoes. Wide, well-fitting shoes with custom insoles can provide cushioning and support to keep your feet pain-free.
