Chiropractic Clinic in Littleton Advises People to Consider Chiropractic Care for Whiplash Treatment

Littleton, United States - August 24, 2019 / Littleton Chiropractic /

Littleton Chiropractic is informing people about the benefits chiropractic care can provide to those suffering from whiplash. The chiropractor at the practice, Dr. Brad Bourne, offers whiplash treatment in Littleton, CO.

According to the Mayo Clinic, "Whiplash is a neck injury due to forceful, rapid back-and-forth movement of the neck, like the cracking of a whip." Whiplash most frequently results from a rear-end auto accident. In fact, two out of three car accident victims suffer from whiplash symptoms. The injury can also be caused by other forms of trauma, such as a sports accident. Whiplash can damage spinal bones, disks in between the bones, nerves, muscles, ligaments, and other neck tissues.

The Mayo Clinic identifies the following symptoms of whiplash: neck pain and stiffness, worsening of pain with neck movement, loss of range of motion in the neck, headaches which commonly start at the base of the skull, tenderness or pain in the shoulder or upper back or arms, tingling or numbness in the arms, fatigue, and dizziness. Other symptoms can include blurred vision, ringing in the ears, sleep disturbances, irritability, difficulty concentrating, memory problems, and depression.

Chiropractic treatment has been shown to be beneficial to those suffering from whiplash. The American Chiropractic Association cites a study that "demonstrated that chiropractic treatment benefited 26 of 28 patients suffering from chronic whiplash syndrome." Regarding chiropractic treatment for whiplash, the ACA also states,  "A neck adjustment works to improve the mobility of the spine to increase range of motion, while also enhancing movement of the adjoining muscles. This will eventually eliminate pain, soreness, and stiffness and allow a patient to painlessly turn and tilt the head. In addition to adjustments, a treatment plan of mobilization, massage, or rehabilitative exercises may speed up the recovery process."

Dr. Brad Bourne at Littleton Chiropractic is a practitioner of the Pettibon System of chiropractic care. This system provides health care that enables the human spine to maintain its optimal structure for normal function. It is a comprehensive rehabilitation program for the spine’s hard and soft tissues. As a practitioner, Dr. Bourne uses x-rays for diagnosis, assessing progress, and proof of treatment effectiveness. He tests each patient’s ability to respond to care and trains patients in at-home care for faster correction. Littleton Chiropractic will help to design a recovery program for whiplash victims that is tailored to the individual patient.

Led by Dr. Brad Bourne, the team at Littleton Chiropractic seeks to restore patients to their optimal health. The guiding methodology at the practice is to address the cause of pain, not just the symptoms. Chiropractic care is the practice of using spinal alignment to alleviate a wide variety of physical ailments, including muscle strain, neck pain, chronic back pain, and more. This is accomplished by adjusting the position of the spinal column to its proper shape, providing a non-invasive solution for pain relief.
