Tacoma Orthodontics Offers a Full Suite of Services for Every Need and Budget

There is no “one-size-fits-all” treatment for dental issues. Some patients may have crooked teeth, others will have a misaligned jaw that affects their ability to chew properly. Other factors, like age or the presence of other periodontal diseases, must also be considered.

Tacoma Orthodontics has a full suite of orthodontic services for every scenario and stage of life. Patients are guaranteed to get customized treatment for their needs, goals, and budget.

  • Traditional braces. These are metal brackets that are fixed to the teeth with dental cement and then connected with wires. The braces are tightened every 4 to 6 weeks. The light pressure gradually moves the teeth and jaw into the right position. In some cases, patients may also need to wear headgear.
  • Ceramic braces.  These work exactly like traditional braces, but are made of ceramic that is either clear or the same color as the teeth. It is a good option for people who want the braces to be as unobtrusive as possible, but they are not a good candidate for Invisalign.
  • Invisalign for adults / Invisalign for kids. Invisalign is an alternative to braces. The clear plastic aligners are practically invisible, and there are no wires or brackets that may irritate the mouth. These can be removed before eating, brushing, or flossing. However, only some types of orthodontic cases can be treated with Invisalign.
  • Phase I Treatment (Early/Interceptive Orthodontics). Some young children may already show signs of dental problems: protruding teeth, crowded front teeth, crossbites, etc. Early intervention can help prevent the need for braces, extractions, or more extensive orthodontic work when they are older.
  • Surgical orthodontics. In some severe cases, the upper and lower jaw can be misaligned or have a large size discrepancy. This can affect breathing, eating/chewing, and speech. Corrective jaw surgery—combined with braces and Invisalign—can fix these issues so the patient will have a better quality of life, and also be more confident about their appearance.
  • TAD treatment. TAD means “Temporary Anchorage Device.” These are very small titanium screws placed in the mouth. It can replace the need for headgear, and possibly shorten or simplify orthodontic treatment.
  • Retainers. Retainers are worn after braces are removed to prevent the teeth from shifting back. It is especially important for teens since it’s normal for teeth to shift as their body grows.

The team of orthodontists—led by Dr. Patra Alatsis—have decades of experience dealing with various types of cases. They can determine the best treatment plan, and provide different options.

At the first consultation, the orthodontist will examine the patient and determine the best treatment plan. This initial consultation is always free. Patients are encouraged to ask questions, and explain what they need or are worried about. Tacoma Orthodontics will never rush patients or brush aside concerns because trust and customer satisfaction are very important to them.
