Affordable Dental Implants From Huffman Family Dentistry

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Huffman Family Dentistry offers affordable dental implants in Anchorage, featuring minimally invasive laser-assisted dental implant treatments. The practice, headed by Dr. Jon S. Weaver, DMD, and Dr. Andrew K. Newman, DDS, is now seeing new patients for dental implant treatments.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are strong, permanent artificial teeth that dentists use to replace missing teeth. Dental implants are similar in color, shape, and strength to natural teeth. The dentist will anchor a metal “root” into the jawbone, placing a connector on top, then a crown blends seamlessly with surrounding teeth.

Dental implants may replace one tooth or entire sections of teeth. They may even replace dentures as a permanent solution to tooth loss from disease, decay, or damage from poor oral hygiene or injury.

Dental implants:

  • Offer a permanent solution to tooth loss
  • Help prevent the jawbone and tissues from receding following tooth loss
  • Look, feel, and function just like natural teeth

Evaluating Candidates for Dental Implants

Each patient’s oral health and tooth condition are different, so it is vital to evaluate their health to determine if they are a good candidate for dental implants.

The first step is to evaluate the underlying support structure of the area that needs implants. The dentists at Huffman Family Dentistry use a digital radiographic exam to determine the jawbone's condition and the networks that hold an implant in place. With the results of this examination, the dentist can estimate the amount of healthy bone and tissue available to carry the implant.

Several factors determine if a patient is a good candidate for dental implants, including:

  • Bone density, specifically the jawbone
  • Oral health, including gums and mouth tissues
  • Overall health
  • Type of implant needed

While many people are good candidates for dental implants, some may require additional preparation or surgical procedures to receive them, such as narrower implants or bone grafts to rebuild the foundation.

Laser-Assisted Dental Implant Process

In a traditional dental implant treatment plan, the dentist surgically cuts a flap to allow implant placement, then sutures it for several months before affixing the crown. In contrast, at Huffman Family Dentistry, dentists use a new technique involving a CO2 laser that sterilizes the surgical area and removes a small amount of tissue from the gums.

With no large incisions and sutures, the laser-assisted method speeds up healing time and significantly reduces the risk of infection. The patient returns 3-4 months later to allow the dentist to uncover the implant to place the replacement crown.
